Frequently Asked Questions

At Engine Carbon Clean, we are proud to be your Lincolnshire based IMI Certified and Which? Trusted Traders.

The carbon cleaning service we provide focuses on the general health of the vehicle more than simply accomplishing the required clean.

Our bookings start with a vehicle health check to make sure it is safe to proceed, as well as monitoring live data diagnostics throughout, to identify issues with parts that may not be logging error codes.

Our intricate engine carbon cleaning ensures your vehicle is back to running smoothly and quietly again.

As well as this, our services also help lower your emissions, provide better fuel economy & savings, restore your vehicles responsiveness & provides you with a quiet, smooth and reactive drive that also helps deal with issues such as MOT emissions failures or sticking turbos.

To answer this simply, yes you can!

Whether it’s petrol, diesel, LPG, or anything else, hydrocarbon engines all create carbon deposits. We have serviced not only cars and vans, but also boats, tractors, tanks, generators, and landfill engines.

Symptoms will include a loss of fuel economy, noisier engine, sluggish response and a higher emission levels.

With emission and fuel economy targets getting stricter over the years, engine components have been designed and developed for keeping the soot within the vehicle rather than passing through the exhaust. Leading to clogged EGR valves, Inlet manifolds and DPFs.

Based on driving style, mileage, and fuel quality, the vast majority of people are coming back about every 20,000-30,000 miles for an Engine Carbon Clean.

We also suggest that you make an appointment ahead of time if you want to have a diagnostic and cleaning procedure completed prior to an MOT if your vehicle is due. Or, if your vehicle or warranty is coming close to expiration, then it’s time to book this inspection and have it thoroughly cleaned and treated.

It does. As long as all the relevant pre checks are performed by someone who is properly trained, certified and has the right approach and equipment to ensure an effective clean.

An Engine Carbon Clean is great at cleaning up the back of a turbo, combustion chamber, injector tips, pistons, cylinders, and cats to get a vehicle running smooth, quiet, responsive, economical and emissions friendly again.

Most modern vehicles contain an ECU (or Engine Control Unit) that is effectively a small computer which controls how the engine works. Vehicle manufacturers de-tune the engine by setting the software on the ECU to default before sending the vehicle out. This is done due to the manufacturers having to sell their cars all over the world; this means that the software settings on the ECU must take into account different climates, laws & restrictions and varying quality of fuels. Vehicle remapping is basically the modification/replacement of the manufactures default software on a vehicles ECU.

Why Book Us

Our team diagnoses recurring engine problems and helps it run smoothly, conserve fuel, and enhance performance.

If left behind, a dirty engine requires more power than normal to clean itself. Because of that, the engine requires a higher volume of fuel and develops more noise and vibration. The end result of this is more fuel efficiency and MOT failures.

Prevention is better than repair!

A booking with us is essentially a health check and detox for your vehicle.

What We Offer

A fully insured mobile service for all combustion engines no matter engine size, mileage or age.

About Us

At Engine Carbon Clean, we focus on the thorough and most effective approach, whilst using the best equipment for the job.

And, we don’t try to upsell additives or DPF cleans if it isn’t needed!

We focus on the identification of symptoms and rectification rather than just “sell cleans”, hence the extensive use of diagnostic. For example, if you have a drop in fuel economy, our diagnostics will identify the root of the problem such as an injector issue, boost leak or thermostat problem.

We will walk you through the diagnostics and you’ll see it as we do – we will act as your interpreter of your diagnostic providing you with an independent analysis as we don’t sell parts or labour.
