â ī¸ Vehicle not running right? Poor idle, low fuel economy, starting issues?
đ Here we have a Mercedes E220 cdi booked in for diagnostics and Engine Carbon Clean.
âšī¸ Our customer contacted us having seen our regular carbon cleaning posts to discuss an occasional fault he was having that would clear when the engine was switched off and re started.
đ A visual inspection highlighted no issues so on with the clean.
đģ Initial diagnostics showed historic and 2 live codes relating to fuel pressure. With a full service history we ruled out fuel filter issues. We were able to test key components to help narrow down a potential issue. Injectors and fuel fuel tested ok. Turbo & egr both tested ok. We suggested a fuel rail pressure sensor issue could well be causing the intermittent issue, so this will be changed in due course. Historical codes were investigated and duly cleared.
đ Live data showed a perfectly running thermostat running at an average of 91°C and varying little when tested. With all other live data within tolerances.
đ¨âđ§ On with the clean and the engine soon smoothed out, quietened down and response returned.
